"Let him try doing it and let's see what happens next."
Thus dared Filipino boxing sensation Manny Pacquiao in reaction to American Timothy Bradley's pronouncement that he will be targeting the latter's injured right shoulder when they meet for the third chapter of their trilogy on April 9 at the MGM Grand Arena.
"Actually, we have already foreseen that even before he announced it," the Sarangani Congressman, who is running for senator in the coming May elections, told those who cared to listen after his training session held Wednesday at the Elorde Gym in Makati City.
"And we, Buboy (Fernandez) Haplas (Roger Fernandez) already have designed what to do even before we pitched camp in General Santos City," he added. "So, we really were not worried after hearing him say that."
"The Fernandez brothers echoed their boss', statement. "Medyo matagal-tagal na naming nahulaan na gagawin nya (Bradley) yan. At pinaghandaan na namin at pinaghahandaan pa kahit yung iba pang maaari niyang gawin pagdating ng laban," Buboy disclosed.
"As we've been saying, we will be ready for whatever Bradley will bring to the table. We fought him twice before and everybody in the entire boxing community believe we won both," Buboy added.
Pacquiao and Bradley fought for the first time in 2012 in a very controversial showdown with the then unbeaten American dethroning the Pacman of his WBO title. Two years later, Pacquiao avenged that defeat, thus, reclaiming the crown.
Roger Fernandez, for his part, said: "Pag may tatargitin kang isang bahagi ng katawan ng kalaban, may tendency na mabuksan ang depensa mo kaya pagpipiyestahan ka."
Even Pacquiao's business consultant Mike Koncz belittled Bradley' threat, saying, "that's the least of Manny's and and our concern.
Manny's injury is 100 percent cured and he should not be worrying about that."
"Mali, it will be a big mistake," retired two-division world champion Gerry Penalosa, butted in. "Tapos ang boksing, kapag ginawa niya yan."
The eight-division belt-owner actually sort of started his preparations in earnest in Wednesday's session. Logging with only seven rounds doing the mitts the past two weeks, the Pacman himself raised the frequency to five rounds that day.
