WOMAN REFEREE SPARKLE LEE TO OFFICIATE TANAKA-SALUDAR TITLE FIGHT

WBO president Francisco ?Paco? Valcarcel has appointed Sparkle Lee as referee for the minimumweight title fight between champion Kosei Tanaka of Japan and Vic Saludar of the Philippines which will take place on New Year?s eve in Nagoya, Japan.
The judges will be Lynne Carter, Levi Martinez and Zoltan Enyedi according to WBO Asia Pacific head Leon Panoncillo while the fight supervisor is Istavan Kovacs.
The internet site Boxing For Free reports that ?Sparkle Lee Is a renowned boxing referee in the New York and New Jersey area. Sparkle started refereeing in the amateurs in 1983 and still referees today. She was the first woman to referee on HBO. Her number one priority, as the third person in the ring, is the fighter?s safety. She is also known for her ability to keep fights under control. She is a dedicated referee and someone who truly loves and respects the sport of boxing. Sparkle is a role model for women in and out of the boxing ring.
