
UNIVISION GIVES SPECIAL RECOGNITION TO THE LATE WBC PRESIDENT DON JOSE SULAIMAN

In what was described by the WBC as ?such an emotional, memorable and bitter sweet ceremony, Univision Deportes, presented a special recognition to our beloved GREAT WBC Lifetime President, Don Jose Sulaiman? at an awards event that also honored WBC flyweight champion Roman ?Chocolatito? Gonzalez as ?Fighter of the Year.?
The WBC Internet site reported that Don Jose ?was aptly honored with the "Sports Hero Award" as during his almost 39 years as leader of the WBC he always supported and served boxers, always putting them first and their interests paramount!?
The WBC and Univison honored Jose Sulaiman who ?set new safety goals, ethics, insisted on honor and nurtured greatness in boxing. He left us with a gold standard a blueprint legacy for the sport.?
During the ceremony, the crowd was able to see a magnificent and touching video, describing and depicting Don Jose?s finest qualities.
WBC President, Mauricio Sulaiman, son of Don Jose, received the award. on behalf of all the Sulaiman family. Mauricio deeply thanked everyone for this special recognition.
Mauricio who succeeded his, late father as WBC president and has been commended for his own performance as head of the organization emembered the myriad of works of Don Jose including his ?acts of kindness, brave visionary policies and vital reforms. He said his father worked hard and tirelessly to make reality for the ones at the sharp/blunt end, who he considered as his sons...the boxers. Mauricio also reiterated his own unwavering commitment to supporting boxers and boxing.
Accompanying the Sulaiman family were longtime friend and promoter Don King, former world champions, Carlos Zarate, Humberto Gonzalez, Evander Holyfield, Roberto "Hands of Stone"Duran, the current WBC flyweight champion, Roman Gonzalez, the WBC Diamond Champion Leo Santa Cruz and emerging star Oscar Valdez.
