HARD-HITTING Jason Moloney of Australia stopped Markquil Salva?a of General Santos City in the 6th round by a technical knockout to capture the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) Oceania super bantamweight crown at the Malvern Town Hall in Melbourne, Australia on Saturday night.

Salva?a?s right got swollen already in the 5th round and could hardly see anymore according to his young manager-promoter Jim Claude ?JC? Manangquil of Sanman Promotions.

?Wala na namo gipadayon pagka start sa 6th kay burot na kayo,? (We did not continue already at the start of the 6th because it was already very big) said Manangquil referring to the swelling right eye.

The two fighters had traded punches in the first four rounds. But Moloney?s stinging jabs damaged Salva?a?s right eye in the 5th round.

It was only the first loss for Salvana, who dropped to 9-1-0 while Moloney remained undefeated with five straight wins all by knockouts.

?Congratulations to Jason Moloney. He has a bright future ahead of him,? said Manangquil.

Salva?a is now recovering and ready to go back home tomorrow together with Manangquil and Sanman chief finance officer Dexter ?Wangyu? Tan.

?He is still very young. We immediately stop the fight in order not to further damage his eye,? said Manangquil.

Moloney has also earlier beaten two Filipino boxers all by knockouts. He previously survived a second round knockdown to stop Filipino Danilo Gabisay of Bulacan in the 5th round last Aug. 19 at the Hisense Arena. - LITO DELOS REYES
