THE MP Boxing Promotion is staging the ?Tibay ng Pinoy XIII: X?mas Slugfest? on December 19 at 5 p.m. at the Panabo Gymnasium in Panabo City.
Undefeated Genesis Libranza of MP Davao Stable will face former Philippine Boxing Fedeeration (PBF) flyweight champion Juan ?Purisima? Purisima of General Santos City in the 10-round main header.
The 22-year old Libranza is still undefeated with eight straight wins with five knockouts and no draw. He now has three wins this year including two by knockouts.
In his last outing, the native from Bayugan, Agusan del Sur scored a convincing unanimous decision against Michael Rodriguez last Sept. 6 at Barangay Labangal Gym in General Santos City.
The 5-foot-5 Libranza earlier stopped Romulo Ramayan Jr. by a 6th round technical knockout last April 5 at the Panabo Freedom Park in Panabo. It was followed by a 2nd round TKO win over Rodel Tejares at the Lagao Gym last May 30.
?Gusto nako na limpiyo gihapon akong record human sa 2015,? said Libranza.
Purisima (11-8-1) is coming off from a 9th round technical knockout loss from the hands of world-rated Jerwin ?Pretty Boy? Ancajas, a stablemate of Libranza, on May 30 at the Lagao Gym in Gensan.
The 24-year old Purisima fought but lost for the World Boxing Association International flyweight title by a unanimous decision to Artem Dalakian on August 24, 2013 at Donbass Aren in Donetsk, Ukraine.
Purisima stopped Renren Tesorio via a 5th round TKO to win the vacant PBF flyweight crown on June 1, 2013 at the Mandaluyong Gym.
Purisima, however, also bowed to WBC world flyweight champion Roman ?Chocolatito? Gonzales of Nicaragua by a 3rd round TKO on April 6, 2014 in Tokyo, Japan.
?Purisima is now a hungry fighter. He wants to win again,? said promoter Joven Jimenez of MP Promotions USA.
More exciting fights will also be featured in the undercard. The fights will also be featured in the ?Blow by Blow Reloaded? TV show of 8-time world division champion Manny Pacquiao.
?It will be free again to the public as our Christmas boxing presentation in coordination with Councilor Ferdinand Gocon? said Jimenez. ? LITO DELOS REYES
