THREE young promising amateur boxers from Sanman Boxing Gym Promotions both scored convincing victories last Friday at the SAFI Compound in Barangay Tambler, General Santos City.
Fourteen-year old Mark Anibersaryo landed more telling blows against E-Jay Gaballo of Gensan Backyard Team in their 40-kilogram bout.
Wendell Plania, 16, younger brother of Sanman?s undefeated pro fighter Michael Angelo ?Magic? Plania (9-0-0-4KOs), also defeated RV Diniega of Gensan Boxing Academy in the 50 kg. bout.
?Sumusunod sa yapak ni Magic Mike itong kapatid nya na si Wendell. Idol niya ang kuya niya kasi,?sabi ni Sanman Promotions CEO Jim Claude Manangquil.
Roilan Boquecosa also won for Sanman against Backyard?s Strong Gaballo in the 49 kg. match. Franz Buyso, another boxer from Sanman, however bowed to GBA?s Jerven Mama in their 50 kg. match.
GSC Backyard and GSC Boxing Academy, on the other hand, both scored two victories in the card held in celebration of the 38th anniversary of the San Andres Fishing Industries (SAFI) in cooperation with the Association of Boxing Alliances in the Phils. (ABAP) Region 12.
GB?s Judas Sarcon outclassed GBA?s Russu Laurente (42 kg.) while GB?s Nognog Dalot crushed Garen Diagan of Dodong Acharon Stable (49 kg.).
Jason Mama posted the other win for GBA over GB?s Raymond Ayuda (51 kg.).
The other bouts saw Holy Trinity?s Loyde Alde drubbed DAS? Lucas Bleadena in 51 kg.
?This is also part of the preparation of our local amateurs for the coming Manny Pacquiao Sports Challenge Open Amateur tournament on Dec. 4-8 at Robinson?s Mall,? said ABAP 12 secretary general Sonnie Sombrio.
SAFI?s Dexter Tan thanked all the boxers, SAFI employees and supporters for the success of its 38th anniversary celebration.
The event was backed up by SAFI, Sanman Promotions, Mt.Sabrina Resort and RML Shell Station. ? LITO DELOS REYES
