MAASIN CITY BOXING SHOWDOWN

The city government of Maasin once again sponsored a Boxing Showdown Monday night at Barangay Asuncion Gymnasium in connection with the Birthday of Congressman Damian Mercado.

The encounter was participated in by amateur boxers of Tacloban, Abuyog, Matag-ob and Matalom of Leyte and Malitbog and host Maasin City of Southern Leyte.

It was held in Asuncion in time for their coming fiesta on Saturday November 28, 2015. The Southern Leyte Boxing Association, which I headed, officiated the 17 bouts.

Most of the Maasin City boxers also came from Asuncion who celebrated their Barangay Day last Friday.

Here are the results:

Mark Laroa of Lib-og defeated Mark Anthony Bolo of Abgao all of Maasin City by Split Decision, 23 kg.

Vincent Entia of Maasin defeated John Arvie Godes of Matalom by Unanimous Decision, 27 kg.

Omar Bandibas of Asuncion, Maasin defeated Joseph Montoya of Abgao, Maasin by SD, 28 kg.

Michael Anduyan of Maasin d. John Mark Rein of Matalom by UD, 29 kg.

Jomari Abitona of Maasin d. Mark Vincent Laraga of Matag-ob by TKO 2nd Rd., 34 kg.

Roel Galo of Malitbog d. Jose Jovy Entia of Maasin by UD, 36 kg.

Louie Jay Forzado of Maasin d. Joseph Egonio of Tacloban by UD, 40 kg.

Nestor Sarsonas of Maasin d. John Mark Buyoc of Malitbog by UD, 44 kg.

Renerio Gabas of Maasin d. Recco Case of Malitbog by TKO 1st Rd., 45 kg.

Anthony Rein of Matalom d. Mark Lee Campilan of Maasin by TKO 2nd Rd., 46 kg.

Justine Piramide of Malitbog d. Willy Ortega of Maasin by UD, 48 kg.
