NEWLY-CROWNED World Boxing Federation Asia Pacific featherweight champion Rimar Metuda of Sanman Promotions is now ready to fight veteran Jaime Barcelona of Bukidnon in the 10-round main header on November 27 at the San Andres Fishing Industries (SAFI) compound in Barangay Tambler, General Santos City.
?Ok na naka spar na siya ug 62 rounds. Ok na iya condition. Puede na siya kay Barcelona,? said Jim Claude Mananquil, CEO of Sanman Promotions.
The 21-year old Metuda is undefeated in eight straight fights with four knockouts, no loss or draw.
The southpaw previously scored a 5th round technical knockout win against Jason Tinampay last September 26 at the Gaisano Mall Atrium of General Santos City to capture the vacant WBF Asia Pacific featherweight crown.
?First time niya to fight a veteran,? said Manangquil.
Barcelona, 37, has a record of 38 wins, 58 loses and 1 draw. The native from Bukidnon fought but lost for the World Boxing Council (WBC) Asian Boxing Council featherweight title to Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo by a unanimous decision last January 2, 2009 in Bangkok, Thailand.
He also lost to Terdsak Kokietgym by a 9th round TKO at the City Hall Ground, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand last October 4, 2005 for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific featherweight title.
The veteran boxer also lost the Philippine title-fight fight against Vinvin Rufino by a UD on March 25, 2009 at the Manila Hotel in Manila. Barcelona, however bounced back with several wins before he suffered again another setback ? a split decision loss to Bobby Pacquiao in Kidapawan.
Three other fighters from Sanman Promotions will also see action in the undercard.
They are Michael Angelo ?Magic Plania (7-0-0), Raymart ?Gensan Assassin? Gaballo (11-0-0) and Jenny Boy ?Camiguin Tiger? Buca (10-2-0).
Plania takes on Ronerex Dalut (9-17-2) of Glan, Sarangani Province in an 8-rounder 122 lbs. bout while Gaballo faces Roldan Malinao (11-35-1) of Agusan del Sur in a 6-rounder and 118-pound bout.
Buca will trade punches with Romulo ?Demon? Ramayan Jr. (6-5-3) of Valencia City for 6 rounds and 112 lbs.
The boxing card is a joint celebration of SAFI?s 44th anniversary and the 23rd birthday of Manangquil, who is probably the world?s youngest boxing promoter-manager.
