CHICAGO -- Bobby Ray Parks Jr took a giant leap towards achieving his lifelong dream of playing in the NBA when the 6-foot-4, 250-pound Filipino was taken at 25th overall im 2015 NBA D-League draft.
The 22-year old all-purpose guard was picked by the Texas Legends, an affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks whom Parks had played for in the 2015 Summer League in Las Vegas.
Parks' D-League drafting comes as no surprise. The former National University standout made quite an impression among Dallas' coaching staff and team owner Mark Cuban who told this writer in a prior interview for NBA.com Philippines that Parks is "an NBA player" who just needs some more work in his game to reach the next level.
Parks, the son of legendary PBA import Bobby Parks Sr, follows the footsteps of Japeth Aguilar, who was drafted by the Santa Cruz Warriors in 2012. Aguilar, however, never made it to the team roster after he was eventually cut by the affiliate team of the Golden State Warriors.
Jean Victor Nguidjol of Cameroon was also made the D-League yesterday. Nguidjol, who once played for the LyCeum Pirates in the NCAA, was picked at No.16 by the Austin Spurs. (HDS)
