DAVAO City boxers John Ednoel Prevendido and Efrelan Loreto both advanced into the championship in contrasting ways in the 2015 Batang Pinoy Mindanao Leg at the Osita Central Elementary School in Koronadal City.

Prevendido of Bacaca scored a split decision against Roremil Son Dakila of General Santos City in the light pinweight (48 kgs.) division while Loreto of Calinan again advanced without any sweat as his opponent was disqualified for using his younger brother?s name Eldo Jee Facularin of Surallah, South Cotabato

Tournament officials found out before the start of the semifinal bout that Loreto?s opponent was already overaged and was only using the name and school record of his younger brother in order to join the tournament for 15 years old and below.

?May nakapagsabi na kasi sa amin sa umpisa pa lang na matanda na daw talaga yun makakalaban ni Loreto. Nakakuha rin kami ng proof sa photo gallery at school record ng mga boxers,? said DC coach Jun Sagarino.

Surallah boxing coach was identified as Briel Nable.

Loreto, 15, a younger brother of World Boxing Organization (WBO) light flyweight champion Rey ?Hitman? Loreto, had earlier advanced into the quarterfinals after he luckily earned a bye in the computer draw.

As of press time, Loreto was fighting against Kim Delmar Macaangga for the gold medal while Prevendido was set to face Dhan Ariel Adolfo in the finals.

Both of their opponents are from the MP Pacman-sponsored Barangay Labangal team of General Santos City. ? LITO DELOS REYES
