Former two division world champion Brian Viloria who put on a gallant display before losing by a 9th round TKO against undefeated WBC flyweight champion and pound for pound No. 1 Roman Gonzalez of Nicaragua, will get together this week with his manager Gary Gittelsohn to review what happened and together come up with a decision on Viloria?s future as a fighter.

Likeable manager Gary Gittelsohn said ?we need to evaluate what happened. I don?t have answers to the very difficult questions but together we?ll come to a decision that is in the best interests of Brian.?

Gittelsohn said he had watched the fight for the first time on HBO?s television replay and ?couldn?t be more proud of Brian?s performance in the ring . He fought in a spirited, courageous way? and claimed the replay confirmed what he saw at ringside during the fight itself ?pretty dramatically? and that was that Viloria ?hurt Gonzalez in the 9th round with a body shot and I think Brian knew that, but by that time he had taken too many shots in a worthy performance in every way.?

The manager who emphasized that he has always had Brian?s ?best interests at heart because he?s like a son to me? conceded that Viloria had ?taken a lot of shots to give shots? and agreed with the referee?s decision stating ?the fight was properly stopped.?
He stressed ?you can?t go into a fight like this anticipating this kind of an outcome. Every athlete and every team goes in planning to win, but now that we came away with a loss, we take the loss well and we?ll do that together.?

Gittelsohn indicated that whatever decision they reach, Viloria is ?one of the very special people I have managed and we are going to be friends the rest of our life.?

Reviewing the fight Viloria?s manager said that ?Brian won the first two rounds for sure? and that he rolled his when Max Kellerman gave the second round to Gonzalez? who Gittelsohn described as ?a terrific, technical fighter.?

He said from all he had seen during the build-up to the official weigh-in, with Gonzalez wearing a thermal sweat suit all the time and spitting into a cup and working out on the treadmill, the Nicaraguan champion was having trouble making the weight and that he was shocked when he weighed the same as Viloria after ?doing everything a fighter does when he has problems making the weight.?

Gittelsohn revealed that on fight night Gonzalez was 122 pounds which is the weight of a super bantamweight.

Should Gonzalez move up in weight as most people believe he would, Gittelsohn believes Gonzalez will face taller, lankier fighters who will frustrate him when they catch him at the end of a jab.
