Manny Pacquiao intends to pursue his dream of becoming a lawyer according to well-known election lawyer and boxing buff Atty. Romulo Macalintal who together with a group of lawyers of Team Unity had lunch with Pacquiao in General Santos City last June 20.

Macalintal told Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today that he was attending the hearings of the Comelec?s Task Force Maguindanao together with the lawyers of senatorial candidate Migs Zubiri when Pacquiao told them of his dream to be a lawyer some day. Macalintal said Pacquiao posed with the Team Unity lawyers saying he wanted to ?get the feel of how it is to be a lawyer.?

According to Macalintal, Pacquiao will enroll at Notre Dame in GenSan and ?plans to enroll in U.P. after his fight in Vancouver in October this year.? He will take up BS Management and thereafter will ?try to pursue his dream of becoming a lawyer.?

Macalintal said he was glad to learn of Pacquiao?s plans directly from him during the visit to his ? big and beautiful home? in General Santos City, adding that he was doubly glad to learn that a world champ like Pacquiao was ?really directing himself to the right path of his life and career.?

The prominent lawyer praised Pacquiao for his sincere and earnest desire to pursue his college education and said he really is ?a good example for our Filipino youth and a great instrument in inculcating in our youth the value of education.?

The lead lawyer of Team Unity noted that Pacquiao was first honor in Grade 1, second honor in Grade II and again first honor in Grade III and had to stop schooling after elementary due to ?extreme poverty.? Pacquiao reportedly ?cried when his mother (Dionisia) told him he had to stop schooling.?

Macalintal said ?lets all hope and pray that he makes it? as a lawyer and added ?I look forward to seeing him in court as co-counsel. Manny will be 37 years by then and I will be in the retiring years of my election lawyering.?
