New York - It was a cool, windy night in Manhattan but temperatures are sizzling inside the Madison Square Garden as New York City hosts a sold-out night of fisticuffs in its famous venue.

Before the two high profile co-main events which is also offered on Pay-Per-View by HBO, the fighters in the five undercard bouts entertained the audience that trooped The Garden early.

HOOKER ESCAPES WITH MAJORITY DECISION NOD OVER MADUMA

Maurice Hooker (18-0-2, 14 KOs) of Dallas, Texas escaped with a close Majority Decision nod over tough foe, Ghislain Maduma of The Republic f Congo and Montreal, Canada (17-2, 11 KOs) in the opening fight at The Garden.

Hooker surprised Maduma with an early knockdown in the 4th but Maduma rallied starting in the 6th and almost scored a stoppage in the round. Hooker smartly spits his mouthpiece during the tense period and bought time for himself, preventing a TKO defeat and a scar in his undefeated record.

Scores at ringside were 95-93, 95-94 for Hooker and a single card of 95-93 for Maduma.

ROACH JR. DECISIONS BUSTOS

Lamont Roach Jr. (8-0, 3 KOs) of Washington, DC earned a Unanimous Decision victory over Jose Bustos (7-5-3, 4 KOs) of Ciudad, Juarez Mexico.

Roach Jr. outboxed his Mexican counterpart in the scheduled 6 round Lightweight bout, garnering scores of 59-55 in all three judges at ringside.

MADIYEV TOPS GEE

Ruslan Madiyev (6-0, 3 KOs) of Karaganda, Kazakhstan dominated
Sean Gee (3-2) of Chicago, Illinois in their 4 round welterweight match.

Madiyev scored a knockdown in the 2nd and cruised comfortably to his 6th straight career win.

He was supported by his fans and countrymen who are here to cheer their countryman Gennady Golovkin in the main event.

Scores were 40-35 (twice) and 39-36 for the unbeaten Kazakh.

JOHNSON DEFEATS O'KANE IN A MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE ELIMINATOR

Tureano Johnson (18-1,13 KOs) of Nassau, Bahamas and Eamonn O'Kane (17-1-1, 5 KOs) of Belfast, Ireland tangled in a Middleweight Title Eliminator for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) in the 4th offering of the evening.

Fists flew in the opening bell as both fighters threw heavy artillery against each other. Johnson dropped O'Kane twice in the round but he was unable to finish him.

O'Kane did more than survive the first round and finish the final bell but lost in the cards against the more accurate Johnson.

Johnson garnered scores of 118-108, 117-109 and 119-107 to emerge victorious and the next IBF challenger to the winner of the main event fight tonight.

ORTIZ KNOCKS OUT VIDONDO

In the final undercard bout, Luis Ortiz (22-0, 19 KOs) of Miami, Florida knocked out Matias Ariel Vidondo (20-1-1, 8 KOs) of Rosario, Argentina in the 2nd round of their 12 round Heavyweight battle.

Ortiz punished Vidondo early, sending him to the canvas with a pair of fear shots in the opening stanza.

Vidondo recovered and barely survived the 1st but was retired for good with a wicked left by Ortiz in the next round.

The Argentinean was out cold and Referee Shada Murdaugh halted the bout immediately.

Ortiz remained undefeated in 23 bouts and is now the new Interim WBA Heavyweight title holder after his superb victory.
