The roster of boxers from the famed ALA Gym are ripped and ready to go in the Philippines vs The World encounter on ?Pinoy Pride 33? at the StubHub Center in Carson City in California on Sunday, October 18, Manila Time, in a fight card to be telecast by the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN over Channel 2, the widely watched TFC, the Filipino Channel and on Sky Cable pay-per-view.

ALA Gym head trainer Edito ?Ala? Villamor told the News Standard/boxingmirror.com that WBO light flyweight champion Donnie Nietes, the Pagara brothers Jason and undefeated IBF Intercontinental super bantamweight champion Prince Albert Pagara and unbeaten IBF featherweight Youth champion Mark ?Magnifico? Magsayao?s spirits were buoyed by the warm welcome they received from Filipinos and Fil-Americans in a meet-and-greet affair over the weekend.

Villamor said the fighters sparring was over and they were ?now working on strategy and mental toughness? in preparation for what are expected to be tough fights against a roster of a talented opponents.

Villamor who himself twice fought for a world title, expressed confidence in the ability of the Filipino fighters to prevail although he stressed they were not taking anything for granted.

Nietes who had two excellent sparring sessions with former two division world champion Brian Viloria who himself faces the toughest test of his career against undefeated WBC flyweight champion and newly-installed pound for pound No. 1 Roman ?Chocolatito? Gonzalez of Nicaragua, is in devastating form showing tremendous hand-speed, good movement and awesome power.
Villamor as well as Freddie Roach?s Filipino assistant trainer Marvin Somodio who handles the preparation of Viloria said both fighters looked really good in sparring which clearly benefited both of them.

Somodio said that while Gonzalez is a tough and talented flyweight he believes that his style is well suited to Viloria and he expects a toe-to-toe battle with Viloria having a good chance of creating a stunning upset in their Madison Square Garden, New York showdown.

Prince Albert Pagara is likely to have the toughest contest when he battles William ?Cherizo? Gonzalez who has a spectacular TKO victory over then highly fancied Cornelius Lock to his name and is an aggressive southpaw who is known for his two-fisted attacks.

A victory by Prince Albert who is ranked No. 3 in the world by the IBF is certain to catapult him to the top with a chance at a possible world title fight down the road.

Elder brother Jason, the No. 2 ranked WBO light welterweight has been working hard and is in much better condition than he was in his last fight in Dubai while Magsayo is living up to his ?Magnifico? nickname and according to Villamor has ?been magnificent in the gym.?
