THE ?Tibay ng Pinoy XI? will be held on November 14 at the Solaire Resort and Casino in Manila featuring the championship fight between former International Boxing Federation (IBF) Youth super flyweight champion Aston ?Mighty? Palicte of the Philippines against Thailand?s Wisanlek Sithsaithong for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Oriental super flyweight crown.
?The complete card will be finalized soon,? said matchmaker Joven Jimenez of MP Boxing Promotions.
Originally the date was scheduled as an eliminator for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) super flyweight title-fight for no. 3 ranked Jerwin ?Pretty Boy? Ancajas and his a still unnamed opponent.
?But Ancajas will no longer fight an eliminator and instead will directly challenge the current IBF world champion McJoe Arroyo of Puerto Rico also in November,? Jimenez said.
Palicte, (19-1-0), however, is ready to fight Sithsaithong, which has a record of 13-8-0.
Palicte, 24, has won all his last nine fights by knockouts. He previously stopped Fernando Ocon in the 4th round by a technical knockout last Aug. 14 at the SM City Annex Davao.
His only setback was from the hands of Romnick Magos by retirement in the fourth round during their title fight for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific Youth flyweight crown held Dec. 1, 2012 in Taguig City.
Palicte, however, bounced back by winning all his next nine fights including a 1st round knockout on Jomyuthlek Sor Narongchai of Thailand last Jan. 31 at the Usep Gym in Davao for the vacant IBF Youth super flyweight title.
The 5-foot-7 Palicte enjoys a height advantage over the 5-foot-3 Sithsaithong.
The 23-year old Thai previously lost by a knockout to Japanese Yuki Yonaha in 54 seconds of the 6th round last July 12 in Hyogo, Japan.
But that was after he also knocked out his fellow Thai Prayoot Saknarong in the 2nd round May 28 in Ratchasima, Thailand.
Sithsaithong first fought but lost in the Philippines last year to former world champion Edrin Dapudong by a 5th round TKO at the Almendras gym last Oct. 11.
?Gusto niyang makabawi sa Pinoy,? said Jimenez.
The ?Tibay ng Pinoy XI? will also feature the other exciting fighters of MP Boxing Stable based in Davao City under chief trainer Raides ?Nonoy? Neri. ? LITO DELOS REYES
