THE revival of the ?Blow by Blow? TV boxing show got a strong support from the boxing promoters, managers and trainers of Mindanao during their meeting held Monday in Davao City.

Among those present at the lunch meeting hosted by former Gov. Manny Pinol at the Yellow Fin Restaurant were Raides ?Nonoy? Neri of MP Davao Boxing Stable and Promotions, Brian Golingan of G-Project Boxing Team of General Santos City, Bruce Lerio of Sonshine Sports Promotions and British-Australian Wally Townsed, who arrived together with his Filipina wife Jean from Camiguin Island.

The Sanman Promotions under CEO Jim Claude Manangquil of Sanman Promotions also sent their intention to support thru a text message.

Also present were Games and Amusements Board (GAB) Southern Mindanao officer-in-charge Arlene Olondriz, sports and games officer Kenneth Improso, matchmaker Romy Fordeliza and ring physician Dr. Edgar Tan.

Pinol, who is the show?s producer, expressed his gratitude and thanked them for coming to hear him talked about the TV show that helped propelled the popularity of 8-time division world champion Manny Pacquiao.

?The main purpose of the program is to help us discover the next Manny Pacquiao, who is expected to retire soon,? said Pinol.
Pacquiao?s promoter Bob Arum has earlier announced already the retirement of Pacquiao after his next fight in 2016.

Pacquiao, who bought the show?s franchise will also be the main host for the weekly show that will be shown on ABC TV 5 every Sunday at 2 p.m. starting next month.

?It will be shown nationwide before the first game of the PBA,? said Pinol.

The inaugural boxing promotion for the TV show will be held on October 9 at the Lagao gym in General Santos City.

?We will really start exactly on where Pacquiao had also started,? said Pinol.

The inaugural card will be finalized this week with only boxers of good record and the potential to be included.

The managers will soon submit their list of fighters available for the TV show.

?We also need their assurance and commitment so that we can already make the schedules,? Pinol said.

The boxing promotion will be held every month in different venues. It will have four main events and six supporting bouts which will be divided into four shows.

The best fighters in the four divisions ? flyweight, bantamweight, lightweight and welterweight ? will also be awarded with cash prizes and trophies at the end of the season. ? LITO DELOS REYES
