ARUM GIVES UP ON THE QUIGG-DONAIRE TITLE FIGHT UNLESS THEY CAN DO IT IN DUBAI

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum has almost given up on getting the WBA title fight between champion Scott Quigg of Britain and five division world champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire done this year unless they can stage it in Dubai.

Arum disclosed he?s been talking to ABS-CBN sports consultant Peter Musgni about the possibility of working with the giant broadcast network and The Filipino Channel ? TFC ? to salvage the title fight.

The Top Rank promoter told the New Standard/boxingmirror.com that promoter Eddie Hearn had informed him that ?they are not going to be able to do the Quigg fight this year because he has another heavyweight fight that?s going to be on pay per view that?s more important, so he?s offered it for next year unless I can get this going in Dubai.?

He said ?that?s what we are trying to see whether we can do it in Dubai or we have to look for an opponent who is not going to be as expensive as Quigg? but that right now he has nobody in mind.

In the case of eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao, Arum told us that ?until we get this MRI done and its evaluated by his doctor in the US I can't do anything? insisting that Pacquiao cannot say he?s fine without a proper medical evaluation of the torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder for which he underwent surgery five days after losing to Floyd Mayweatyher Jr in Las Vegas last May 2.

At the same time Arum indicated that to talk about a rematch with Mayweather who has insisted he is retired is ?ludicrous? although he said ?he may change his mind. We?ll see."
