Magali.

JUST always pray. It really helps.

This was the unsolicited advice given by WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental featherweight champion John Vincent ?Mulawin Moralde to his fellow Filipino boxer Carlo Magali, whose opponent Australian David Browne Jr. died a few days after he was knocked out in the final 12th round of their title-fight on Saturday in Australia.

?Akong advice kay Magali na mag ampo lang pirme. Dako kayo ug tabang dyud na sa iyaha. Makalampas gihapon na siya sa iyang ginabati karon (My advice to Magale is to just pray always. It?s a big help for him. He can still get over it on what he is feeling right now),? said the undefeated Moralde (13 wins, 7 knockouts).

Despite standing only at 5-foot-4, Magali was able to knock out six-footer Browne Jr. to bring home the WBC Euro Asia Pacific super featherweight crown from the Ingleburn RSL Club in Ingleburn, New South Wales, Australia last Sept. 12.

Moralde, 21, had also experienced the same fate when his previously unbeaten Australian opponent Brayd Smith suffered a coma after their fight which the Dabawenyo won by a unanimous decision held March 14 in Queensland, Australia for the WBC ABCC title.

Smith, who only suffered his first loss, later died in the hospital two days after.

?May blood clot na pala talaga yun siya bago lumaban (He had blood clot already before the fight),? said Moralde, who went home to Davao City and rested for more than a month.

?Nagpahulay lang sa ko ug sige ug ampo sa Ginoo (I just rested and always pray to God),? said the former.

Moralde, however, was able to successfully make a ring comeback after that incident.

The undefeated Moralde scored a 2nd round knockout against Fil-American William ?Black Slugger? George of Kidapawan City last July 11 at the Robinsons Mall in General Santos City.
Moralde landed a powerful right to the body of George, who finally was not able to stand up again. George was earlier also knocked down by a bodyshot in the first round but was save by the bell.

?Makulbaan gihapon ko hantod karon kay basig mausab tong nahitabo sa Australia. Pero wala na apektuhan akong dula (I still get nervous for fear that the same incident in Australia will again happen. But my fight has not been affected),? said Moralde.

Moralde is already scheduled to fight Jerry Castroverde (6-1-0) of Cebu on Sept. 26 at the Gaisano Mall Atrium in General Santos City in the undercard of the ?Brawl at the Mall: Revenge or Revalidation?.

?Kundisyon na kaayo ko karon. Pababa na sparring nako kay hapit naman ang dula (I?m really in good condition already. We?re now slowing down my sparring because the fight is already near),? Moralde said.

His 23-year old older brother Engelbert ?Agila? Moralde (8-2-0) is now making a ring comeback after more than a year of hiatus.
He will be facing southpaw Jonathan Francisco (8-4-0) of Zamboanga also in the undercard on Sept. 26.

?Medyo nakabalik naman pud siya sa iyang lihok. Dili na bagal. Listo na pud (He?s back on his usual moves. He?s no longer slow)? said Moralde

The older Moralde last saw action October 9, 2014 wherein he won by a second round knockout against Paul Apolinario at the Polomolok Gym.

But Engelbert went back home to Davao to stay longer with his family.

?I only accepted him back to Sanman to give him another chance,? said manager-promoter Jim Claude Manangquil. ? LITO DELOS REYES
