Giemel Magramo.
Another Magramo has emerged as a future prospect in a family of fighters known for their entertaining, action-packed style that entertained fight fans for years.
20 year old Giemel Magramo is the latest in the roster from the Magramo clan led by Ronnie ?Toy Bulldog? Magramo, Melvin the father of Giemel and Ric and Alvin Magramo.
Giemel is on track to follow his father who was OPBF and WBO Intercontinental flyweight champion as he remains unbeaten with a record of 14-0 with 11 knockouts.
His latest, a 4th round TKO victory over Roilo Golez before a full house at the Flash Elorde Grand Ballroom along Sucat Road, Paranaque last Saturday was an impressively calculating performance against a fighter he conceded he was ?not sure of because I didn?t know his style.?
But once he figured out the southpaw Golez who occasionally resorted to showboating. it was comparatively easy.
Using his hand-speed to advantage, Magramo set the tone early with a right to the body followed by a left in the opening round.
A flurry of punches in the third round had Golez propped up by the ropes in the last 25 seconds of the round although referee Benigno ?Benz? Penafiel failed to rule it as a knockdown.
In the fourth round Magramo unleashed a series of vicious body shots and combinations to the head that sent Golez through the ropes and almost out of the ring at 2:05 of the round.
After stepping back into the ring and taking a mandatory eight-count Golez held his chest and told the referee he was quitting. The official time was 1:09 of the round which gave Magramo another solid win that is likely to put him in line for a WBC International title shot.
In a post fight interview with Viva Sports Mike Ochosa, the young Magramo said he had trained for one month for the Golez fight and promised to train ?hard and well? for the possible title shot.
