21 year old Diego De La Hoya, a cousin on the great Oscar De La Hoya has won the vacant WBC Youth super bantamweight title in a ten round bout that highlighted the Estrella TV premiere of LA FIGHT CLUB in Los Angeles.

In a bout that highlighted a night full of absorbing action Diego De La Hoya (12-0, 7 KOs) took on former world title contender Jesus "Estrella" Ruiz (32-7-5, 21 KOs) in a 10-round featherweight bout for the vacant WBC Youth Super Bantamweight Title.

The WBC reported that ?despite some hard shots landed by Ruiz, De La Hoya was able to efficiently combine and coordinate movement, timing, speed, and power. De La Hoya countered effectively, avoiding many of the biggest intended shots thrown by Ruiz, adding a liberal sprinkling of his own. And Diego won the bout via unanimous decision to become the new WBC Youth Super Bantamweight Champion.?

In a post fight interview Diego De La Hoya, known as ?The Golden Kid? said "Movement was a big part of our plan to out box him and so we conditioned accordingly. I felt comfortable and calm and in control throughout the whole fight and I thought I landed some good uppercuts and really hurt him. Those are some of my favorite punches.?

Ruiz for his part conceded "His distance and his movement made it difficult for me to execute my game plan, which was to outbox him and then eventually land a big shot. I was never hurt throughout the fight but he just outworked me and made it difficult for me to land.
