FORMER WBA Youth bantamweight champion Daryl Basadre has sparred a total of 56 rounds now in his preparation for his much-awaited rematch with Kenny Demecillo on Sept. 26 at the Gaisano Mall Atrium in General Santos City.
?We?re targeting a little over a hundred rounds for Demecillo,? said manager Jim Claude Manangquil of Sanman Promotions.
It will now be a 12-round championship fight for the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) Asia Pacific bantamweight title.
?Basadre has been all focus and is currently doubly hard at the Sanman gym as he starts the second half of his preparations,? said Mananguil.
The 22-year old Basadre (14-2-1) has sparred with his undefeated stablemates Marquil Salvania and Mike Plania, both former amateur standouts.
?Daryl has been sparring four rounds each with Marquil and Mike and so far he has shown great progress. We are upping his rounds this coming week before we wind down training." said the world?s youngest boxing promoter Managquil.
Basadre lost to Demecillo ( 9-3-1) via controversial 2nd round technical knockout last June 7 for the WBA Oceania title at the Robinson?s Mall in Gensan.
Their highly anticipated return bout, billed as the ?Brawl at the Mall: Revenge or Revalidation? is presented by Gaisano Atrium Mall Gensan, Mt. Sabrina Resort, San Marino Tuna, Sydney Hotel and supported by Philboxing.
The main supporting bout is the WBF International featherweight title-fight between Sanman?s Rinmar Metuda and Jason Tinampay. ? LITO DELOS REYES
