CASIMERO BACK IN THE PHILIPPINES TO RESOLVE BREACH OF CONTRACT CASE

Fomer IBF light flyweight champion Johnreil Casimero has returned to the Philippines to resolve the breach of contract case filed against him by his manager Pio Castillo Jr in the Regional Trial Court of Cebu.

Casimero was charged with signing a contract to fight for the world title against Thai champion Amnat Ruenroeng without the knowledge and authority of Castillo.

According to the complaint Castillo said he and Casimero entered into an agreement with SGG Sports and Promotion Services of Sammy Gello-ani as their sole and official boxing promoter and that from 2008 to 2013 and Casimero fought several times both domestically and internationally but that on May 3 last year Casimero reportedly stopped training at the Omega Gym and also left the housing accommodation given him and that Casimero had trained in Las Vegas without informing him.

Casimero lost a foul-infested fight that was a travesty with referee Larry Doggett failing to prevent or penalize the Thai for a series of fouls which were widely condemned by the international media. As a result the IBF retained Casimero as the No. 1 contender but ordered him to face Puerto Rico?s McWilliams Arroyo in a title eliminator with the winner to face Ruenroeng who had also beaten Arroyo in a controversial decision.

Filipino promoter Sammy Gello-ani who handles Casimero in partnership with international promoter and matchmaker Samson Lewkowicz told the New Standard/boxingmirror.com that Casimero is in his hometown of Ormoc and would ?return to Cebu next week? even as he pointed out that when Casimero fought Ruenroeng he used the Omega logo on his trunks.

Gello-ani assured us that they are ?not running away from their obligations? to Casimero?s manager and that they hope to resolve the issue soon in order that Casimero could return to Las Vegas and train there for the October eliminator against Arroyo.

Gello-ani also revealed that they are setting up a training facility in Cebu and veteran trainer Jun Agrabio who has also returned to the country would resume training Casimero in Cebu.
Gello-ani said he is confident that the Bangkok experience won't be repeated and that Casimero ?can handle McWilliams Arroyo. We are not scared.?

McWilliams Arroyo is coming off a 3rd round TKO win over tough Victor Ruiz last April 11. He had earlier scored a 2nd round TKO over previously unbeaten Rey ?Sniper? Saludar in a title eliminator on June 19, 2014 in Puerto Rico.

Also back in the country is Marvin ?Marvelous? Sonsona who is reportedly in his hometown of General Santos City attending to some personal problems.

Lewkowicz informed us that Sonsona will fight a four-round exhibition on September 9 in order ?to keep in shape.?
