THE MP Boxing Promotion of 8-time world division champion Manny Pacquiao is staging the Tibay ng Pinoy: Bakbakan sa Barangay Labangal on Sept. 6 at 1 p.m. at the Barangay Labangal Gym in General Santos City.

It will be held in coordination with Labangal Barangay Captain Lorelie Pacquiao, former world-rated Bobby Pacquiao and the Joven Sports Promotion.

?It?s in celebration of Labangal?s fiesta,? said MP Davao Gym chief trainer Raides ?Nonoy? Neri.

Pitted in the main event is the 10-rounder between undefeated Genesis Libranza (7-0-0) of MP Boxing Stable and former Luzon Professional Boxing Association (Luzproba) light flyweight champion Michael "Matibay" Rodriguez of La Trinidad, Benguet.

The 21-year old Libranza, a native of Bayugan, Agusan del Sur has scored five knockouts, three of them in his last outings.

He previously knocked out Rodel Tejares in the second round last May 30, 2015 at the Lagao Gym in Gensan.

The 5-foot-5 orthodox fighter also stopped Romulo Ramayan Jr. by a 6th round technical knockout last April 6 in Panabo City after he TKO?d Charlie Cabilla in the 2nd round last Nov. 8 at the Almendras gym.

Libranza?s other past victims were Edward Joaquino (majority decision), Jessie Suacasa (2nd round retirement), Paulo Perono (3rd KO) and Jhonny Belo (UD).

Rodriguez, 33, stopped Elbert Guardario in the 4th round to win the vacant Luzproba title on Oct. 11, 2010 in Imus, Cavite.

Rodriguez also fought but lost to Randy Petalcorin for the interim PABA light flyweight crown last Aug. 6, 2012 in Mandaue City.

Rodriguez, who was born in General Santos City, settled a majority draw with Lionel Mark Duran in their title-fight for the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) flyweight crown last Dec. 22, 2012 in La Trinidad.

Rodriguez bowed to Wisanu Kokietgym by a unanimous decision in their 12-round title-fight for the PABA light flyweight crown held March 31, 2011 in Thailand.

He also dropped a unanimous decision to Tepparith Kokietgym in their PABA flyweight championship bout held Feb. 13, 2013 also in Krabi, Thailand.

The boxing card, which is free to the public is supported by the Family Country Hotel, Pepsi, Sting, Cerritos Mitsubishi and South Coast Mitsubishi.

Ten other pairs are featured in the undercard. ? LITO DELOS REYES
