Young super middleweight Miles Delmindo who at one time wanted to join the national pool of the Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines or ABAP and was hoping to qualify for the 2012 London Olympic Games, has turned pro and made an immediate impact.
In a four round bout at the Franklin City Fair in Hillard, Ohio, Delmindo dropped Rick Morias twice with stinging left hooks behind a flurry of punches to force the referee to stop the contest at 0:33 of the opening round.
In July 2010, the promising 15 year old Fil-Am amateur boxer visited the Philippines with his father Mario Delmindo and had a chance to spar with 18 year old Dennis Galvan who was a senior member of the national pool.
By all accounts the sparring went well and coach Pat Gaspi reportedly liked what he saw in Miles but at that time said he needed to develop more speed and strength.
At that time Mario Delmindo said he would work on getting his son dual citizenship so he could represent the Philippines in international tournaments such as the Asian Games and hopefully the Olympics.
