Two more female boxers from the four-women PLDT-ABAP team competing in the 2015 ASBC Asian Confederation Women?s Continental Championships in Wulanchabu, China have won their opening bouts to join opening day winner Irish Magno who defeated AIBA World Youth champion Lin Yu Ting of Chinese-Taipei.
AIBA said that the best women boxers across Asia are competing for gold medal glory.

Seasoned campaigners Josie Gabuco and Nesthy Petecio who is ranked No. 2 in the world showed their class beating their rugged Uzbekistan opponents handily.

Gabuco, the 2012 AIBA world champion took three rounds to overcome Atakulova Gulasal, taking charge from the opening bell and although Gulasal tried to make a fight of it she paid dearly as Gabuco nailed her several times with solid left hooks.

By the second round the Palawan lass who won her fourth consecutive gold medal at the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore last June was ?alternating hooks and straights to the head of the hapless Uzbek and towards the end of the round Gulasal was given a standing eight count? according to a report from ABAP executive director Ed Picson, head of the Philippine delegation.
AIBA reported that Gabuco is one of the fighters to watch at the championships staged in the serene environment of the Inner Mongolian City of China.

It was more of the same in round three with Gabuco connecting with more short right straights and cracking left hooks that prompted the referee to give the Uzbek girl two more standing eight counts to seal the deal for a TKO victory by Gabuco.
Petecio on the other hand faced an aggressive Aziza Yakubova also of Uzbekistan who repeatedly try to rush Petecio in an effort to try and dictate the pace of the fight but the Davao del Sur Filipina was ready with counter right hooks that staggered Yakubova who was given two standing eight counts in the opening round.

In the first 30 seconds of round two the referee had seen enough and after one more eight count awarded Petecio a TKO victory which was the second for day earned by the Philippines.
Petecio in April won the Best Female Boxer accolade at the Indonesian President?s Cup tournament.

Three Filipina boxers were scheduled to see action on Sunday with bantamweight Riza Pasuit making her debut against hometown girl Meiling Gao while Gabuco will fight for the second consecutive day against China?s E. Naiyan while Magno will engage the Democratic People?s Republic of Korea?s Ri Hyang Mi on Monday.
