A sigh of relief is visible over Junny Salogaol's face after a wicked left hook to the mandible made the second defense of his Philippine Boxing Federation 118-pound title a success in the main event of "Binukbokay sa Minglanilla" hours earlier. A strong showing in the second round for challenger Nicong Calamba was quickly halted as he was stopped in the very next stanza. A barrage of strong blows to the head clearly stunned the defending champion from Big Yellow boxing gym. Veteran referee Teddy Alivio counted out the Sta. Josefa, Agusan del Sur-native challenger in the third round as he unsuccessfully tried to regain his equilibrium.
In the chief supporting bout, Jerry Castroverde of Omega boxing club scored a highly controversial split decision win against Jun Ryan Quimbo of Compostela, Cebu after eight tightly contested rounds. Castroverde started the first minute of the bout with bad intentions but was floored later on in the first round. It became a familiar scenario all throughout the fight with Castroverde throwing more punches but Quimbo was far more accurate and landed the more telling blows. The verdict was severely criticized by the spectators as soon as it was announced and booes started to erupt as many expected a Quimbo victory. In another bout, RR Borbon of Omega boxing gym scores a TKO at the start of the second round as Jomar Cineta of Bohol quits. Clyde Azarcon of Davao City wins a majority decision over Mark Baribar of Bohol after four rounds and Jay-r Aliasot of Ormoc City TKO's Richnel Rosales, also of Bohol after suffering a right arm injury.
Five open boxing bouts serve as curtain raisers, John Kevin Jimenez of Team Cebu City wins a SD over Joperson Trazo, Rodel Nueva scored a second round TKO over John Renell Torres, Eduardo Jimenez UD Jun Mark Lariosa Echavez, John Paul Gabunilas of 10,000 BC boxing gym UD Jeffre Jimenez and Rodex Piala wins via Walkover as opponent Raymund Rama of Phil-Aust boxing gym fails to appear in the venue. The event was held at the Minglanilla Sports Complex and is a promotion of sportsman and businessman Lorenzo "Chao" Sy.
