Another feather in his pugilistic cap will be added as Kit Ceron Garces of 10,000 BC Boxing Gym is set to compete in AIBA World Junior Boxing Championships next month.

The 16 year old former University of the Visayas boxing varsity will be joining first the national training pool in Baguio City to undergo rigorous training in preparation for the said competition.

The Talisay City-native has always been an outstanding amateur pug, having garnered several gold medals in national boxing tournaments including Palarong Pambansa, PLDT-ABAP, Philippine Youth Games (Batang Pinoy) and Philippine National Games (PNG) National Championships. This tournament will undoubtedly be the biggest challenge for the talented lad as he will be donning the national colors for the first time.

It should also be noted that Zamboangueno Eumir Felix Marcial won the country's first gold medal four years in Astana, Kazakhstan.

"Being able to compete for your country is a big challenge and I will do my best to bring honor to the country", Garces is quoted as saying.

The tournament is a gathering of the world's best amateur boxers aged 15 to 16 years old and will be held in Sibur Arena in Krestovsky Island in the Russian port city of Saint Petersburg on September 2 to 13.

Hopes are high following the impressive showing of the national boxing team at the recently concluded Singapore SEA Games.
