John Jackson of the U.S. Virgin Islands reigned over Dennis Laurente of the Philippines in a 10 round Super Welterweight contest at the Full Sail Live Arena in Winter Park, Florida.

Jackson (20-2, 15 KOs) dropped Laurente once in Round 3 and dominated the Filipino in all 10 rounds of their fight to win with a shutout score of 100 ? 79 in all of three of the judges? cards at ringside.

The 26 year-old boxer from the Caribbean utilized snap jabs to thwart the attacking Laurente who was caught plenty when he tried to get inside Jackson.

Jackson also punished Laurente with his hooks and uppercuts but the Filipino took it well and never ceased on his assaults on his opponent.

Laurente, 38, was a game foe for the younger Jackson who kept advancing despite receiving plenty of punishment from his opponent. Jackson admitted in the post-fight interview that he faced a tough veteran in the ring after he was declared the winner.

Their bout is part of a Super Welterweight tournament of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) with the winner advancing to the next stage against another participant of the contest.

Laurente dropped his record to 49-6-5 (30 KOs) and derailed his six fight winning streak that dates back to 2013. His last defeat was also in the United States in 2012, when he lost to Kenny Abril by Split Decision at the Texas Station Casino in Las Vegas in the eve of Manny Pacquiao ? Juan Manuel Marquez 4.
