CHICAGO -- After weeks of negotiating for a new deal, restricted free agent Matthew Dellavedova has agreed to stay with the Cleveland Cavaliers for a one-year qualifying offer worth $1.2 million, according to ESPN.

If he can perform with the same flair he did this past playoffs, Dellavedova can pursue a fatter contract next season when he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

Undrafted in the 2013 NBA Draft, the 25-year old Dellevedova, called fondly as Delly among Cavs fans, entered the league through the backdoor, playing in the Summer League that eventually earned him a two-year deal with Cleveland.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound guard made the most of his role as a reserve. He averaged 4.8 points and 3.0 assists during the 2014-15 regular season before making a name for himself in the playoffs where he bumped his scoring to 7.2 points an outing.

Delly's huge break came in the NBA Finals where he replaced the injured Kyrie Irving. Dellavedova starred in the Cavs' Game 3 win by scoring 19 while slowing down reigning MVP Steph Curry with his pesky defense. (HDS)
