24 year old middleweight Shane Mosley Jr. and 33 year old heavyweight Julian Pollard have been suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for failed drug tests in their Big Knockout Boxing bouts at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas last June 27.

ESPN Senior writer Dan Rafael reported that Mosley Jr., the son of former three-division world champion Shane Mosley, has been issued a temporary suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for failing a drug test following his appearance on the Big Knockout Boxing pay-per-view card in which Mosley knocked out Jason Kelly in 51 seconds but tested positive for amphetamines, which are banned.

Mosley Jr dropped Kelly with two vicious body shots and when Mosley Jr dropped him once again referee Jay Nady called a halt.

The findings against Mosley Jr who has a record of 5-1 with 5 knockouts is a major setback for the youngster who was scheduled to fight on the Sergey Kovalev-Nadjib Mohammedi undercard on Saturday night but was removed from the card several days ago when the commission received the test results.

Rafael reported that Mosley Jr was also supposed to fight on the undercard of his father's Aug. 29 rematch with Ricardo Mayorga at the Forum in Inglewood, California, but that will also be canceled because of the failed test.

His father, Shane Mosley Sr., while never failing a drug test, testified under oath to a grand jury investigating the Victor Conte BALCO scandal that he had taken undetectable steroids "the clear" and "the cream" and injected himself with EPO sold to him by Conte during training camp for his 2003 rematch with Oscar De La Hoya in which Mosley scored a somewhat controversial decision in a junior middleweight world title bout.

Dan Rafael recalls that Shane Mosley Sr. never faced any punishment because he never failed a test, and his usage didn't become public knowledge until years later. But his son will be forced to miss at least two scheduled bouts.

Heavyweight Julian Pollard who is regarded as a late bloomer with a record of 7-0 with 6 knockouts won a seven-round unanimous decision against Rodney Hernandez in the main event of the BKB card. He was also was temporarily suspended for failing his drug test.
