QUIGG?S TRAINER SAYS ALL ROADS LEAD TO DONAIRE

The trainer of World Boxing Association super bantamweight champion Scott Quigg, Joe Gallagher, says should Quigg retain his title against Mexico?s Kiko Martinez on Saturday, five division world champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire would be up next.

Sky Sports in Britain reported that Quigg puts his belt on the line on a huge night of Sky Sportsboxing and with talks over a potential unification clash with Carl Frampton continuing to stall, Gallagher is hoping Quigg can book a clash with former champion Donaire - providing he overcomes Martinez.

Gallagher told Sky Sports: "If he gets past Martinez, it'll be Nonito Donaire. It won't be Carl Frampton. The problem with that fight is Barry McGuigan.

Commenting on the problems in making a fight against Frampton, Gallagher said "They can dress it up all they want but Frampton was offered ?1.5m. That's a very good offer and more money than some of Floyd Mayweather Jr's opponents get.?

Given the situation Gallagher said "It's all roads leading to Donaire. That's a huge fight and a name that Quigg is crying out for.?

He said "Scott is in a great place physically and mentally. He said to me at the public workout last week that he wished it was tomorrow night he was fighting.

"No matter which way Kiko Martinez wants the fight to pan out on Saturday night, Scott has an answer for it. Scott has had some really top-class sparring in the training camp and he's ready to put on a scintillating performance on Saturday night.?

The trainer added "His attention to detail is unbelievable. He trains, sleeps, eats and that's it. He repeats for three sessions a day. His hunger and desire for knowledge is like someone who is new to the sport.

"He's not a world champion who is resting on his laurels. He wants to face the best and be the best."

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum told the New Standard/boxingmirror.com that Donaire?s manager Cameron Dunkin was in talks with the handlers of Quigg about the possibility of the Donaire title fight being held in Dubai in a big Top Rank promotion which Donaire welcomed.

Donaire told us he is ?very excited? over the prospect of fighting champion Scott Quigg but like Quigg, who also fights on the same day that Donaire faces former European champion Anthony Settoul in a ten round bout in Macau, he needs to hurdle the challenge.

Donaire who has had some torrid eight round sparring sessions with Mark "Magnifico" Magsayo, "Prince"Albert Pagara and Mark Bernaldez at the ALA Gym in Cebu told the New Standard/boxingmirror.com said he has had "real quality sparring with excellent sparring partners" and that he only has "a little to go to reach peak condition? for the Settoul ten-round non title fight.

Donaire's father/trainer "Dodong" Donaire told us that the bout against Settoul is "a very important fight because he is looking for a showdown with Quigg. He is preparing for that fight also."
