TEAM CEBU CITY WINS 55TH SOUTHERN LEYTE ANNIVERSARY BOXING CHAMPIONSHIP

The boxers from Team Cebu City showed great strength and determination in winning as overall champion of the boxing tournament in the 55th Founding Anniversary of the Province of Southern Leyte at the Maasin City Bus Terminal. Cebu City won 8 golds and 3 bronze medals to emerge the No. 1 team after the finals Sunday night.

While ALA Gym boxers were not far behind as second placer overall as the six boxers they sent all won gold medals. ALA Gym was 2 golds less than the output of Cebu City.

Third was Leyte Sports Academy with with one gold and six silvers. Fourth was Maasin City with one gold four silvers and two bronzes. Fifth was Camiguin Tiger Boxing Club with three silver medals. Sixth was Ubay, Bohol with one silver and four bronze medals. Seventh was Matalom with one silver. Eighth was Tomas Oppus with one bronze medal.

Alexander Bonita (Cebu) defeated D-Jay Escaner (Camiguin) by Unanimous Decision, 28 kg. Kids category;

John Exel Mugar (Cebu) d. Jomari Abitona (Maasin) by UD, 30 kg. Kids category;

Eduardo Jimenez, Jr. (Cebu) d. Jhonel Bello (LSA) by UD, 34 kg. Kids category;

Brando Christian Oledan (LSA) d. Angelo Bulasa (Cebu) by Walkover, 36 kg. Kids category;

John Ni?o Vega (ALA Gym) d. Louie Jay Forzado (Maasin) by UD, 38 kg. Junior category;

Jerwin Matayao (Cebu) d. Salvador Caasi (Maasin) by (LSA) by Split Decision, 42 kg. Junior category;

Adrian Rosal (Cebu) d. Ramil Pingol (LSA) by SD, 44 kg. Junior category;

Jomar Caspe (ALA Gym) d. Deither Caseda (LSA) by SD, 46 kg. Junior category;

Vincent Sios-e (ALA Gym) d. Mileni?o Anduyan (LSA) by UD, 48 kg. Junior category;

Dominique Casa?ares (ALA Gym) d. John Mark Escoton (LSA) by 1st Rd. TKO, 50 kg. Junior category;

Marvin Pomar (ALA Gym) d. Eljay Secuya (Camiguin) by UD, 45 kg. Youth category;

Esnith Domingo (ALA Gym) d. Romie Evale (Maasin) by 1st Rd. TKO (injury) , 48 kg. Youth category;

Allan Refuela (Cebu) d. Jervin Salicinas (Matalom) by 2nd Rd. TKO, 52 kg. Elite category;

Ian Refuela (Cebu) d. Rajan Nadarajah (Camiguin) by SD, 52 kg. Elite category;

Edillo Abrea (Maasin) d. Daryl Ramos (Maasin) by SD, 56 kg. Elite category;

Ramjess Colina (Cebu) d. John john Bautista (Bohol) by 1st Rd. TKO, Elite category.

Gov. Roger Mercado awarded the medals and cash prizes to all medalists.
