55TH SOUTHERN LEYTE ANNIVERSARY BOXING TOURNAMENT SEMIFINALS

The fights were getting more intense as some of the best boxers in the Visayas clashed in the semifinals in the open/invitational boxing tournament in celebration of the 55th Founding Anniversary of the Province of Southern Leyte at the Maasin City Bus Terminal.

Esnith Domingo of ALA Gym fought toe to toe with Cebu City bet Marco Pomar in one of the best fights of the semifinals. Domingo won by unanimous decision.

While former ABAP national team member Edillo Abrea of Maasin City showed fierce strength and determination in outpointing veteran Rodex Piala of Cebu City by split decision in the most applauded fight of the evening.

Abrea will clash with another Maasin pugilist Daryl Ramos who won by TKO over Richnel Rosales of Bohol in the second round in the 56 kg. Elite category.

Another Maasin City fighter Romie Evale entered the finals when he stopped Pablito Balidio of Bohol in the first round. He will face Domingo in the 48 kg. Youth category gold medal bout.

The event was graced by International Boxing Federation intercontinental superbantamweight champion Albert Pagara of Maasin who will be awarded as Outstanding Southern Leyte?o in the field of Sports this afternoon.

The results of the semifinals:

Deither Casida (Leyte Sports Academy) defeated Roy Jones Crisostomo (Maasin) by 2nd round TKO; 46 kg. Junior Category;

Mileni?o Anduyan (LSA) d. Jonhro Taneo (Cebu) by Unanimous Decision, 48 kg. Junior Category;

Esnith Domingo (ALA Gym) d. Marco Pomar (Cebu) by UD, 48 kg. Youth Category;

Romie Evale (Maasin) d. Pablito Balidio (Bohol) by 1st round TKO, 48 kg. Youth Category;

Jervin Salicinas (Matalom) d. Judymar Mara (Bohol) by 1st round TKO, 52 kg. Elite Category;

Alan Refuela (Cebu) d. Jolito Catagasan (Tomas Oppus) by UD, 52 kg. Elite Category;

Ian Refuela (Cebu) d.Glenn Mantilla (Bohol) by 1st round TKO, 54 kg. Elite Category;

Rajan Nadarajah (Camiguin) d. Monsour Grullo ( Maasin) by UD, 54 kg. Elite Category;

Edillo Abrea (Maasin) d. Rodex Piala (Cebu) by Split Decision, 56 kg. Elite Category;

Daryl Ramos (Maasin) d. Richnel Rosales (Bohol) by 2nd round TKO, 56 kg. Elite Category.

The final bouts will be held this afternoon.
