Veteran Filipino junior welterweight Ranee ?KO Kid? Ganoy who lives and fights out of Australia has lost by a crushing 4th round TKO to unbeaten Cletus Seldin, nicknamed ?The Hebrew Hammer? in a WBC International Silver title fight before a packed house at the Paramount in Huntington, Sunday Manila Time.
Seldin who has a record of 17-0 with 14 knockouts had predicted he would stop then hard-hitting veteran Ganoy and he did much to the delight of his Long Island fans.
Seldin sent Ganoy crashing to the canvas in the second round and followed it up with a second knockdown at 1:15 of the fourth round to put an end to the fight with what was described as Seldin?s ?14th thunderous KO victory? fighting under promoter Joe DeGuardia?s guidance.
In a post fight interview Seldin said ?once I got his timing down I was able to land the hard punches. That?s when I was able to drop him in the second round and again I the fourth.?
Seldin in a pre-fight conversation said Ganoy ?is a tough guy and with 32 knockouts he will probably come in for the knockout. If he does that you know what happens. You get the hammer.?
Seldin won the vacant WBC International junior welterweight Silver title with a 9th round TKO of Bayan Jargal on December 20, 2014 after dropping Jargal with a hard right in round one and then again in round seven after which referee Arthur Mercante Jr called a halt at 2:40 on the 9th round.
In his last title defense on February 27 this year Seldin won by a 5th round TKO over Johnny Garcia with referee Tony Chiarantana calling a halt at 2:28 of the fifth stanza.
The battle-tested 35 year old Ganoy who now fights out of Albuquerque, New Mexico lost a ten round majority decision to Josh Torres last April 11 in a clash for the vacant United States NBC super lightweight title in a close bout.
