IBF flyweight mandatory challenger Johnreil Casimero is ready to fight to the death when he battles Thai champion Amnat Ruenroeng in Bangkok on June 27.
When the New Standard/boxingmirro.com got in touch with Casimero and trainer Jhun Agrabio at their apartment in Las Vegas, Casimero was frying fish and told us ?I?ll fry Amnat like the fish I am now cooking? before letting out a hearty laugh.
Casimero had finished a light training session and according to Agrabio, it was geared towards speed.
They plan to have Casimero spar ten rounds on Thursday (Manila Time) at the Roy Jones Gym in Las Vegas with a super flyweight sparring partner provided by Sean Gibbons.
Casimero was in a light hearted mood but said he was mentally and physically ready for whatever Ruenroeng brings to the ring.
The former IBF light flyweight champion has been training hard over the past two months and is confident of emerging as a two division world champion on June 27.
Meantime, over in Tokyo, British trainer Warren Evison informed us that WBO Oriental super flyweight champion Warlito ?Cowboy? Parrenas ?is looking really good? in training at the United International Promotions Gym in Tokyo.
Parrenas has said he will go for a knockout if he sees an opening when he faces Mexico?s David Carmona in their Interim title fight on July 4 in Mexico City.
Parrenas who is ranked No. 1 is training very hard and is determined to win the Interim crown from Carmona who is ranked No. 2 and is a good fighter.
Parrenas realizes that it could be difficult to earn a decision in Mexico and that while the impression is ?you must win by a knockout, it?s a question of timing and if it comes, I?ll go for it.?
Parrenas told us that he continues to spar with former Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation champion, 30 year old Takuya Kogawa whom he described as ?a smart fighter with very fast hands and you have to be in condition which is good for my stamina.?
