In what was described as ?a very emotive conversation? with World Boxing Council president Mauricio Sulaiman, WBC super lightweight champion has agreed to relinquish his green and gold belt.

As a result the WBC has declared the super lightweight title vacant and ordered Victor Postol to fight Lucas Mathysse for the vacant title.

Victor Postol has been the division?s mandatory contender and had registered in the WBC a step aside agreement with several provisions which all were complied with to his benefit. But since the Postol-Garcia will not happen, the WBC reported that ?Postol will fight Lucas Mathysse who won the rights after beating Provodnikov and the fight will be for the WBC undisputed super lightweight championship.?

Danny Garcia conquered the WBC title defeating legendary Mexican Eric ?El Terrible? Morales and made several impressive title defenses against Morales , Amir Khan while the highlight of his career was the ?Fight of the Year?2013 when he defeated then WBC interim champion Lucas Mathysse.

Garcia has competed in overweight fights and has notified the WBC of his concern in making the 140 limit which will open the possibility of his facing eight division champion Manny Pacquiao when Pacquiao fully recovers from his rotator cuff surgery in his right shoulder.

A possible Pacquiao-Garcia fight had been mentioned in the past but nothing ever moved forward.

The WBC website reported the organization ?will coordinate a specific medical study of body mass composition to be performed at UCLA to determine the division in which Garcia is safe to fight.?

Meantime, the WBC Board of Governors has voted in favor of honoring Danny Garcia with the designation of Champion Emeritus which will allow him to perform his medical tests and should he be cleared to fight as a super lightweight , Garcia will have the right to challenge for the championship.
