In another one of the many cases where promoters change title fight dates at their own convenience, it seems the promoter of the WBO super flyweight Interim title fight, Tuto Zabala Jr of All Star Boxing has informed the WBO as well as the handlers of Warlito ?Cowboy? Parrenas that the June 20 date is not confirmed.
This is another instance of promoters in Mexico changing fight dates which throw off the training of Filipino opponents which is unfair to say the least.
The British trainer of Parrenas, Warren Evison told the New Standard/boxingmirro.com that they were upset over the non-confirmation of the fight date when it has long been announced on boxrec.com and in a series of stories on the June 20 fight.
In a telephone conversation with boxingmirror.com, WBO Asia Pacific head Leon Panoncillo indicated he had asked the promoters to explain why no firm date had been decided upon and indicated that WBO president Francisco ?Paco? Valcarcel who frowns on Interim title fights wants the Parrenas-David Carmona fight ?to be made right away.?
At the same time Evison said if the Mexicans are messing around with the fight date, they are willing to stage the Interim title fight in Manila.
In the meantime we have learned that the ring for the Milan Melindo-Javier Mendoza IBF light flyweight title fight was well below championship standards and was as small as the training rings at the ALA Gym in Balete Drive, Quezon City which prevented Melindo from using his footwork to advantage as with one ore two steps, he ends up against the ropes which was to the advantage of Mendoza raising serious concerns about proper supervision of fights by the various ring organizations.
