GENERAL Santos City (June 6) -- Reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) Youth world bantamweight champion Daryl ?Flash? Basadre of Sanman and Kenny Demecillo of Omega Stable from Cebu are both eyeing for a knockout win against each other in their 12-round title-fight for the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) Oceania bantamweight crown tomorrow (June 7) at 1 p.m. at the Robinsons Place Gensan.
Both fighters tipped the scales at identical 117 lbs. yesterday during the weigh-in held this afternoon at the Robinsons Place. Basadre and Demecillo are also both 22 years old.
Basadre, a native of Cagayan de Oro City has a ring record of 14 wins, 10 knockouts, 1 loss and 1 draw while Demecillo is toting 8 wins, 5 Kos, 3 loses and 1 draw.
"I had prepared long enough for this fight. I will knockout him out if ever I'll get the chance," said Basadre.
However, Demecillo plans to do that also against Basadre.
"If I can knock him out why not also," Demecillo said.
The fight will be supervised by WBA Oceania supervisor Ferlin Marsh while the referee is Ramil Ovalo.
Promoter Jim Claude Managquil said that this boxing show dubbed as "Gensan Fury I" is just the start of a series of big-time boxing promotions of Sanman for this year.
"We want everyone in Gensan to be able to see boxing for free. That is why we are staging this boxing for the first time here at Robinsons," said co-promoter Dexter "Wang Yu" Tan.
Pitted in the main supporting bout are World Boxing Federation (WBF) world super featherweight champion Harmonito ?Lights Out? dela Torre (15 wins, 10 Kos) of Sanman and former Philippine super lightweight champion Eusebio ?Raging Bull? Baluarte (19 wins, 12 Kos, 11 loses) of Valencia City.
Dela Torre and Baluarte also both make their weights at 132 and 133 lbs., respectively.
Two undefeated fighters Rimar Metuda (6 wins, 3 Kos) of Sanman and Jerry Castroverde (5 wins, 3 Kos) of Omega will also fight in the undercard at 8 rds. Both of them submitted 126 lbs.
