DESPITE being the current International (IBF) Pan Pacific super flyweight champion, Jerwin "Pretty Boy" Ancajas is considered the underdog against Juan "Punisher" Purisima in their 10-round non-title fight set on Saturday night at the Lagao Gym in General Santos City.

Ancajas was beaten thrice already by Purisima in their four encounters during their amateur days.

"Natalo ng tatlong beses si Ancajas laban kay Purisima noon mga amateur palang sila pareho (Ancajas lost three times against Purisima when they were still both amateurs)," said promoter Joven Jimenez.

"Gustong-gusto talaga ni Ancajas na laban muli si Purisima ngayon pro na sila, Sino kaya sa kanila ang magwawagi?" (Ancajas really wants to fight again Purisima now that they are both pros already. Now who do you think will win?") said Jimenez.

Ancajas won the vacant IBF Pan Pacific superflyweight title by knocking out in the first round only Petchwanchai Sor Visetkit last May 3, 2014 at the USEP Gym in Davao.

Ancajas continued to wax hot by stopping in the 3rd round Fadhili Majiha last Nov. 23, 2014 in the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao-Chris Algiere fight held at Cotai Arena in Macau.
Ancajas now has a pro record of 22 wins with 14 knockouts, one loss and one draw while Purisima has 11 wins, 4 knockouts, 7 loses and 1 draw.

"Mahusay din na boxer itong si Purisima," Jimenez said.
Purisima, however,is coming from four straight loses.
He suffered a 3rd round TKO to undefeated Roman Gonzales in Tokyo, Japan last April 6, 2014 and lost to Artem Dalakian by a unanimous decision for the WBA International flyweight title last August 24, 2013 in Ukraine. - LDR/CSDD-CMO
