
WBA Oceania title-fight in Gensan June 7

GENERAL SANTOS CITY ?The Sanman Promotions is staging its first big boxing show for this year on June 7 at 1 p.m. inside the Robinson?s Mall Atrium here featuring the championship fight for the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) Oceania bantamweight title.
?There will be lots of good match-ups for this card,? said the country?s youngest boxing promoter Jim Claude Manangquil.
Reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) Youth world bantamweight champion Daryl ?Flash? Basadre of Sanman will fight Kenny Demecillo of Omega Stable from Cebu in the 12-round main event.
Basadre, 22, a native of Cagayan de Oro City has a ring record of 14 wins, 10 knockouts, 1 loss and 1 draw while 22-year old Demecillo tots 8 wins, 5 Kos, 3 loses and 1 draw.
Pitted in the main supporting bout are World Boxing Federation (WBF) world super featherweight champion Harmonito ?Lights Out? dela Torre (15 wins, 10 Kos) of Sanman and former Philippine super lightweight champion Eusebio ?Raging Bull? Baluarte (19 wins, 12 Kos, 11 loses) of Valencia City.
Featured in the undercard are two undefeated fighters Rimar Metuda (6 wins, 3 Kos) of Sanman and Jerry Castroverde (5 wins, 3 Kos) of Omega.
?There will be seven more exciting bouts,? said Manangquil, who recently arrived from Las Vegas, Nevada to watch the ?Fight of the Century?.
The explosive boxing card is sponsored by San Marina Tuna, Robinson?s Mall and sportsmen-businessmen Vic dela Cruz, John Ray Manangquil and Dexter Tan.
The official weigh-in is on June 6 at 10 a.m. at the Jam?s Resto Bar. ? LITO DELOS REYES
