A HERO?S WELCOME FOR A GALLANT PACQUIAO

Eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao will receive a hero?s welcome when he arrives with his family from Los Angeles where he underwent surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder which was aggravated in round four of his ?Battle for Greatness? against undefeated pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Solar Entertainment which acquired the exclusive television rights for the unprecedented multi network coverage of the fight has organized a massive motorcade following a press conference at the VIP lounge of Philippine Airlines Centennial Terminal 2.
Solar Sports said that with pain shooting up his right shoulder, Manny Pacquiao still tried to give the boxing world an exciting fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. Even if he was not able to throw his vaunted right hook, Pacquiao did not stop chasing the undefeated American around the ring.

Pacquiao lost via unanimous decision to Mayweather in what was billed as the biggest fight of both boxers? careers. Pacquiao also lost his WBO welterweight title and a chance of entering the history books to be being first man to defeat Mayweather.
Pacquiao may have lost a lot in Las Vegas but his head remains unbowed.

The members of the TV panel that covered the fight at ringside all felt that Pacquiao won a close fight.

Respected TV analyst and Philippine Star columnist Quinito ?The Dean? Henson and well know boxing man Mike Ochosa of Viva Sports both had Pacquiao the winner by two points while this reporter also of Viva Sports and the New Standard had Pacquiao eking out a close one point decision mainly because of his aggression and the fact that he threw the harder punches and had Mayweather in trouble in rounds four and six which all contrasted sharply with the scores of the three American judges with Dave Moretti turning in what we collectively felt was a scandalous 118-110 scorecard.

Once again, Pacquiao exemplified that the Filipino spirit is unbreakable, that it will not stop fighting against whatever odds.

In a press release to the New Standard/boxingmirror.com Solar Sports said that after the biggest challenge of his career, Manny Pacquiao returns to his homeland where it is expected that his millions of supporters will be there to give him all the warm adulation that he deserves.

Upon his arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2, a press conference will be held for Pacquiao to address the local media. Pacquiao and his entourage will then proceed to Makati City for a breakfast where he will be officially welcomed by the team that made sure Pacquiao-Mayweather would be available to as many Filipinos as possible. The team is headed py Solar Entertainment Corporation President and CEO Wilson Tieng, along with representatives of ABS-CBN, GMA, TV5, SkyCable, CignalTV and a few of Manny?s closest supporters.

After a quick breakfast, the motorcade is slated to start at 9:00 am. Legions of Filipino boxing fans will get the chance to see the country?s pride and joy as the motorcade runs through Makati City via Pasay Road, Makati Ave., Ayala Ave., Sen. Gil Puyat Ave., Taft Ave., Quirinio Ave., Roxas Blvd. and will end at Rajah Sulayman Park.
