
PALARO 3 DAVRAA boxers enter semifinals

TAGUM CITY (PNA) May 7 ? All three remaining boxers of the host Davao Regional Athletic Association (Davraa) beat their separate rivals to barge into the semifinal round of the on-going 2015 Palarong Pambansa last Wednesday at the Tagum City Pavilion here.
Mosquito weight John Michael Diocares pulled off a majority decision against Region 6?s Harry Camacho while light paperweight Jave Lawrence Arguelles, 14, of Compostela Valley scored a split decision against NCR?s Marlon Arnaiz.
Pinweight John Benedict Cadavido, a member of the Davao del Norte?s Barangay Una Boxing Team then outclassed Richard Sequino from the defending champion Region 12.
The 15-year old Cadavido landed more telling blows against the flashy Sequino, who desperately tried to comeback by even pushing the hometown fighter down on the canvas in the last five seconds of the final round.
?Masaya ako sa ipinakita ng mga bata ngayon. Sana tuloy-tuloy na ito sa finals,? said new ABAP Davao del Norte president and Barangay Una boxing executive director Edwin Pardillo.
Cadavido, 15, will next fight last year?s silver medalist Vicente Sios-e Jr. of Region 7, who survived against Region 10?s Ronilo Layasan Jr. by a majority decision.
Diocares, 14, of the municipality of Carmen will next face Region 10?s Rejemelyr Namocatcat, who beat Region 1?s Rodel Villafuerte by a unanimous decision in the quarterfinals.
Arguelles?s next opponent is Region 5?s Anthony Quintana, who stunned Region 12?s Jasper Catalbas by a unanimous decision.
Defending champion Region 12 also got three boxers advancing into the next round.
Criz Russu Laurente of General Santos City, lambasted Region 8?s Caasi Salvador in the light mosquito division as all three judges scored identical 30-27.
Light paperweight Jasper Catalbas and light fly Jayson Mama clobbered Region 5?s Anthony Quintana and Mark Anthony Hapin both by points respectively.
Aside from Sios-e Jr., three other Central Visayas boxers also entered the semifinals. Light mosquito John Nino Vega, light paper Lloyd Jabez Antoque and light fly Kit Ceron Garces.
Garces, a bronze medalist last year, clobbered Region 10?s Aljum Pelesio by a split decision. Vega crushed Region 4-A?s Mark Renier Rebleza while Antoque eliminated CAR?s Aubre Noelle Luminang.

(40 kg.) ? Rejemelyr Namocatcat (R10) def. Rodel Villafuerte (R1) by points; Bryan Sabido (R4B) def. Marco Paraisao (R5) by points; Jude Jaictin (R9) def. Gerwin Asilo (R7) by points;
(42 kg.) ? Metchel Mark Potoy (R8) def. Owen Enricuso (R9) by points;
(44-46 kg.) ? Ramel Landa (CARAGA) def. Jerald Into (R9) by points; Milenino Anduyan (R9) def. Jovani Dulce (R1) by points;
(46-49 kg.) ? Jethro Alejandre (CARAGA) def. Jonji Martana (R4A) by TKO 3rd round; John Rick Navarro (NCR) def. Jhon Mark Pangilinan (R3) by points.
The championships will start at 4 p.m. on Friday according to tournament director Maximo Abalos.
