Exceptionally tough and talented Filipino southpaw Randy ?Razor? Petalcorin who retained his WBA light flyweight interim title with a devastating first round knockout of Chinese challenger Ma Yi Ming on Friday in Beijing, China, wants to fight WBC champion Pedro Guevara of Mexico and avenge the 1st round TKO loss to previously unbeaten Asian Boxing Council champion Richard Claveras in Sinaloa, Mexico last April 11.

The 25 year old Guevara has a record of 25-1-1 with 17 knockouts with his only setback being a split decision loss to then IBF champion Johnreil Casimero on August 4, 2012 in Guevara?s hometown of Sinaloa.

Peter Maniatis who co-manages Petalcorin with Jimmy Manangquil told the New Standard/boxingmirror.com Sunday that Petalcorin is ?ready to go again, even tomorrow against any of the current world light flyweight champions except WBO king Donnie ?Ahas? Nietes? the longest reigning Filipino world champion because they don?t want to fight a fellow Filipino.

Maniatis, the multi-awarded Australian promoter said Petalcorin is ?on top of the world? because the purse he earned will help him build a house in his hometown of General Santos City.

With IBF champion Javier Mendoza scheduled to defend his title against ALA Promotions Milan Melindo, Maniatis is looking at Petalcorin?s option to fight Japan?s Ryoichi Taguchi the WBA champion or Guevara.

Petalcorin has said he would like to avenge the loss of Claveras with Maniatis expressing the hope that a Philippine TV network would step up and stage the fight.

We covered Petalcorin?s training prior to his Pan Asia Boxing Association title fight against tough Thai Samartlek Kokietgym on April 21, 2012 in the Mandaluyong City Gym.

At that time, Petalcorin was being handled by American trainer Rick Staheli in Angeles City and we were impressed with his compact style, his movement and his power-packed combinations.

Petalcorin dropped Samartlek once in rounds 3, 6 and 9 en route to an impreddsive win in a fight telecast by TV 5.

Petalcorin's showing against Yi Ming whom he dropped three times in the opening round with vicious combinations justified the accolades of Maniatis and Manangquil who said ?a new Filipino boxing star is born.?

With the win Petalcorin improved to 24?1-1 with 19 knockouts.

Maniatis who is also a radio and TV host in Australia besides being an award-winning Australian promoter said Petalcorin nailed Yi Ming with ?a series of hooks to the head and some vicious body shots while he was unmarked as the Chinese fighter ?didn?t land a single punch on Randy.?

Maniatis said ?a new Filipino boxing star is born and our problem is we may run out of opponents.?
