Solar Entertainment Corporation which holds the exclusive rights for television and all other platforms for the ?Battle for Greatness? in the Philippines between eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao and unbeaten pound for pound No. 1 Floyd Mayweather Jr, has named the TV panel that will cover the fight from special ringside at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 3, Manila Time.

Solar Entertainment Corporation president and CEO Wilson Tieng named veteran sports broadcaster and widely read Philippine Star columnist Joaquin ?Quinito? Henson, nicknamed ?The Dean? who will be alongside knowledgeable boxing man Mike Ochosa as analysts while this reporter will serve as anchorman of the coverage.

The meeting of the TV panel last Thursday was presided over by Solar?s Paolo Diaz who laid down specific guidelines for the historic multi-network telecast by Solar over ABS-CBN Channel 2, GMA 7 which has telecast the Manny Pacquiao fights since his first encounter against Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera in November 2003 and TV 5.

The ?Battle for Greatness? will see Henson and myself who covered many of Pacquiao?s early fights on the weekly show ?Blow by Blow? where Manny made a name for himself, reunited for the first time since we covered Pacquiao?s first world title victory when he grabbed the World Boxing Council flyweight crown with a spectacular 8th round knockout of Thai hero Chatchai Sasakul on the outskirts of Bangkok on December 3, 1998.

Sasakul recently visited Pacquiao during training at the Wild Card Gym to wish him the best in his battle with Mayweather Jr.
Henson and this reporter were partners in the TV coverage of a classic battle between Pacquiao and Renato Mendones in Puerto Princessa, Palawan which Manny won by a 2nd round TKO in an action-packed bout and also did the TV coverage when Pacquiao suffered a stunning 3rd round knockout at the hands of Rustico Torrecampo at the Mandaluyong Gym on February 9, 1996.

Henson and myself were at special ringside at the Staples Center in Los Angeles for the telecast of the first clash between Oscar De La Hoya ? Sugar Shane Mosley which Mosley won by a 12th round split decision in June 17, 2000.

We have also worked closely with Mike Ochosa on Viva Sports weekly show ?The Main Event? covering several fights featuring local boxers in different venues.

Mike is an extremely knowledgeable boxing man, like Quinto who is a storehouse of knowledge, and we feel privileged that Solar Entertainment Company gave us an opportunity to work with these two outstanding boxing analysts and look forward to an epic ?Battle for Greatness.?

We will also cover the fight for the Standard newspaper and the internet site boxingmirror.com which is dedicated to the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight and includes news, analysis, features, video interviews and a host of other exciting features for fight fans.
