CONGRESSMAN Manny ?Pacman? Pacquiao of Saranggani Province gave a financial assistance for the immediate medical check-up and operation of the daughter of boxer John Mark Apolinario, whose fight in Laredo, Texas was cancelled.

?Inabutan naman siya ni Boss Manny pag dating naming doon sa US (Boss Manny gave him something upon our arrival in the US),? said matchamaker Joven Jimenez, who accompanied Apolinario.

In a text message, Apolinario confirmed that he and his wife Darlene will be bringing their daughter Jaira from Maasim, Sarangani to Davao City for a check-up on Monday.

?Dapat noong Lunes pa sana pero my lagnat kasi siya (Supposedly last Monday but she had fever),? said Apolinario.

Pacquiao?s assistant trainer Raides ?Nonoy? Neri also sought the help of his friend Dr. Allan Recto, who referred them to Dr. Dario Sunga, who also immediately called up another fellow doctor in Davao City - Dr. Jose Matillac of the Davao Doctor?s Hospital who will handle the check-up on the child.

?Maraming salamat po talaga sa mga doctor na tumulong din sa amin sa Laredo at US,? said Jimenez.

Apolinario?s daughter was born with an imperforated anus, an abnormality which she had since birth.

The was supposed to be operated already but Apolinario?s fight against undefeated Jessie Magdaleno in Texas two weeks ago was cancelled after Apolinario failed to get a license for failing to submit on time his medical papers.

Apolinario was hoping to use his boxer?s purse for the operation estimated to be worth P200,000. Apolinario cried after learning that his fight was cancelled.

Jimenez brought Apolinario then to Pacquiao?s camp in Los Angeles to seek for help.

Apolinario then got a call and text message this week from the doctor to bring their daughter to Davao City.

?Nagtawag sa akua na dalhon ang bata sa Monday para ma check-up nila ug para ma schedulan dayon sa opera (Called me up to bring our daughter on Monday for a check-up and schedule for the operation) ,? said Apolinario.

?Salamat sa mga doctor labi na sa atong pinalangga na si Congressman Manny Pacquiao (Thank you to the doctors and to our beloved Congressman Manny Pacquiao),? said Apolinario.

Apolinario is a former WBO Oriental super flyweight champion with a record of 18 wins, 5 Kos, 5 loses, 3 draws. -- LITO DELOS REYES
