The long line of media people from every nook and corner of the world including the United States and the Philippines waiting to participate in the International conference call hosted by Top Rank promoter Bob Arum and featuring eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao, resulted in an unexpected breakdown of the system which forced its cancellation.
An eager and super upbeat Pacquiao arrived well in time along with trainer Freddie Roach and Arum but the c alls simply didn?t come through the system when it was time to get the conference call going.
It was a simple system ?blow up? where the panel couldn?t communicate with the operators as well as the media people who simply couldn?t get in.
By all accounts the breakdown in the communications system indicated just how massive the interest in the Pacquiao-Mayweather showdown at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 3, Manila Time as callers from the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Philippines and even from the comparatively smaller internet sites tried to get a question in without success.
There is no word as yet on whether the conference call will be re-scheduled since time is running out and Pacquiao is being besieged for interviews which is another indication of his amazing popularity not just as a fighter but as a humble and decent human being.
