FOUR Filipino boxers from the MP Boxing Promotions are hoping to get their visas soon so that they can be included in the undercard of the much-awaited mega-fight between 8-world division champion Manny Pacquiao and undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Newly crowned IBF World Youth super flyweight champion Aston Palicte, WBO Asia Pacific bantamweight champion Marlon Tapales, world rated super flyweight Drian ?Gintong Kamao? Francisco, and IBF Asia Pacific super lightweight champion Adonis Cabalquinto will have their interviews at the US Embassy in Manila on Tuesday.
They will be accompanied by matchmaker Joven Jimenez of the MP Promotions USA LLC, who also just arrived from Mexico and the US.
?Sana maka kuha sila ng visa nila para matuloy ang laban nila sa undercard,? said Jimenez, who accompanied boxer John Mark Apolinario against the undefeated Jessie Magdaleno in Texas.
But it was cancelled after Apolinario failed to submit on time the medical papers.
Jimenez hopes that the Palicte and his group could immediately get their visas so they can apply for their licenses to fight in Las Vegas.
?Sana maka-abot pa sila agad,? said Jimenez.
The 24-year old Palicte (17 wins, 15 KOs, 1 loss) previously stopped Ismael Garnica in the 7th round by a technical knockout last March 7 in Macao after he captured the vacant IBF Youth super flyweight title via a 1st round stoppage over Jomyuthlek So narangchai last Jan. 31 at the USEP gym in Davao City.
Tapales (27 wins, 10 KOs, 2 loses) knocked out Jecker Buhawe in the 2nd round also at the USEP gym in his last fight. He retained his WBO Asia Pacific bantamweight title by a unanimous decision against challenger Fadhili Majiha on June 28, 2014 at the Mindanao Civic Center Gymnasium in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.
Cabalquinto, 26, a native of Talaingod, Davao del Norte is undefeated with a record of 19 straight wins with 12 KOs and no draw.
Last Jan. 31, the 5-foot-8 Cabalquinto TKO?d Denkamon Pakdee Gym in the 3rd round for his first title-defense of the vacant crown he won via an 8th round TKO win against Pankorn Mor Poowana at the Almendras gym last Nov. 8, 2014.
Francisco, on the other hand, has an impressive ring record of 27 wins with 21 KOs and only two loses and one draw.
After losing to Chris Avalos in their title-fight for the vacant WBO-NABO super bantamweight title last July 12, 2013, Francisco then piled up three straight wins. He first knocked out Mexican Manuel delos Reyes Herrera in the 3rd round on Aug. 2, 2014 in California, USA.
Francisco, who is now managed by Pacquiao?s conditioning coach Justine Fortune, then scored a convincing unanimous decision against Apolinario on Nov. 8 at the Almendras gym.
Francisco, who suffered a cut above his left eye due to an accidental clash of heads, knocked down Apolinario once in rounds 5 and 7. Francisco continued his winning form by retiring Jason Egera in the 8th round last Jan. 31 at the USEP gym. LITO DELOS REYES
