The Philippine ladies doubles team of Katharina Lehnert and Anna Clarice Patrimonio stunned favored Indonesia in the semi finals of the Fed Cup (Group II) Asia-Oceania tennis tournament at the Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad on Friday and will face heavily favored India in the finals for a chance at promotion to Group I.

Tennis official Karl Santamaria reported that the Filipinas scored a big win over Indonesia 2-1 and with a gutsy comeback in the crucial doubles clich?d a berth in the finals. They beat the Indonesian vereran pair of Tananta and Damayanti 6-7 (12-14) 6-4 6-2 and will now have to content with the world rated Sania Mirza-led Indian team.

Even the Indian media in its story on the one-sided 2-0 victory over Turkmenistan said India is expected to play Indonesia in the finals, failing to contend with the grimly determined Philippine doubles tandem.

India's Ankita Raina and Prarthana G Thombare beat their respective Turkmenistan rivals in the two singles matches as Thombare defeated Jahana Bayramova 6-0, 6-2 with no serious resistance being offered to the Indian by her rival.

Raina, one of the most promising players in India thrashed Anastafiya Prenko 6-1, 6-2 in the second singles match as the hosts breezed into the summit round.

The Indian Express reported ?It was an easy victory for the two Indians, who remain unbeaten in the tournament. India is expected to play Indonesia in the finals on Saturday.

Earlier, India thrashed Pakistan and Malaysia 3-0 and 2-0 respectively in their first two rounds.
