Gello-ani.

An obviously angry promoter Sammy Gello-ani has blasted trainer Joven Jimenez and called him a ?liar? following accusations by Jimenez that boxer Mark John Apolinario whose fight against Jessie Magdaleno in Laredo, Texas was cancelled because Apolinario could not get a license from the Texas Commission, had been short-changed by Gello-ani who only gave the boxer $2,000 as his purse for his WBA title fight against Koki Kameda in July 2013 in Tokyo.

Jimenez claimed Apolinario who was jointly promoted by Gello-ani and international promoter Sampson Lewkowicz should have received fifty percent of the boxer?s purse.

In a story on philboxing.com. Jimenez also denied Gello-ani?s claim that he was the one who obtained the visas for Jimenez and Apolinario when they fought in Mexico.

Gello-ani told the New Standard/boxingmirror.com that it was actually his partner Sampson Lewkowiz who helped obtain the visas even as he angrily denied that he had cheated Apolinario.

He said ?I have all the accounting receipts including the many advances received by them and signed by them? and told us he was ready to produce the documents. We are aware that it is is a common practice among boxers to ask for advances from promoters.

Gello-ani insisted ?this is not true? referring to the accusation that he cheated Apolinario and accused Jimenez of stealing fighters after he had contributed to their making a name for themselves and pointed to the cases of flyweight Froilan ?Sniper? Saludar and Adonis Cabalquinto who reportedly had filed cases against Jimenez with the Games and Amusements Board.

However, we were unable to get confirmation from the GAB since boxing division chief Dr. Nasser Cruz is out of the country having accompanied Richard Claveras to Mexico for his ill-fated title fight against WBC light flyweight champion Pedro Guevara who won by a 1st round KO last Sunday, Manila Time while chairman Ramon Guanzon was not in the office.

Gello-ani arrived in Manila to attend to the needs of the mother of Marvin Sonsona who was to have undergone a kidney operation at 11:00 a.m. Monday, in response to a request from Sonsona who is currently training in Las Vegas for an upcoming fight.
