Apolinario.

Filipino featherweight John Mark Apolinario?s fight against unbeaten American prospect, Jessie Magdaleno was called off Friday after the Filipino fighter was not granted a license to fight in the State of Texas.

Apolinario (18-5-3, 5 KO) of Maasim, Sarangani Province is scheduled to fight Magdaleno (20-0, 15 KOs) of Las Vegas in the main event (8 rounds) of a Top Rank Boxing promoted event Saturday night at the Laredo Energy Center in Laredo, Texas.

?Apolinario wasn?t able to get a license. That?s all I know.? commented Frank Espinoza of Espinoza Boxing, Magdaleno?s manager, when Philboxing sought him for an explanation.

Meanwhile, Apolinario?s trainer, Joven Jimenez stated that the reason that the fight was cancelled was because Apolinario?s medical tests and paper works did not reach the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation?s deadline.

?Hindi na-submit on time ang result sa Medical, hindi namin kasalanan."

(The results of the Medical was not submitted on time, It was not our fault.) Jimenez told this Philboxing writer.

Apolinario's pre-fight medical tests and examination were conducted in Los Angeles last week according to Jimenez.

?Hindi na namin alam kung anung nangyari, sinabihan lang kami na late mga result.?

(We did not know what happened, we were just told that the results were late.) Jimenez added.

Apolinario was profoundly saddened by the cancellation of his fight. He cried in his hotel room after learning that his fight for tomorrow will not push through.

He cried because of a bigger reason.

The boxer is planning to use his purse money to pay for his daughter?s hospitalization and surgery in the Philippines.

?Para ito sa anak ko sir. Pero wala akong magawa sir.?

(This is for my child. But I cannot do anything sir.) Apolinario said.

Apolinario?s youngest child, 4 year-old Jaira, will need surgery for an imperforated anus, an abnormality which she had since birth. Apolinario was emotional when he explained her daughter?s situation.

?Nung paglabas niya, yung puwet niya walang butas. Pina-operahan na namin na siya, pero yung dumi niya sa gilid lumalabas.?

(She did not have an opening in her anus when she was born. She already had surgery but her stool comes out of her side.) stated the boxer.

?Yung pera sana ngayon yung inaasahan ko para mapa-operahan siya.?

(I was hoping to use my earnings from this fight to have her operated on.) Apolinario added.

?Kawawa si John Mark, inaasahan niya ang laban na ito para sa anak niyang ooperahan. Kaya eto, gustong lumaban ulit para maoperahan anak niya.?

(This is unfortunate for John Mark, he is relying on this fight so that her daughter can have surgery. And now, he is insisting to fight so that her daughter?s surgery can push through.) stated an equally disappointed Jimenez who remarked that they both prepared well for this fight.

Apolinario and Jimenez will return to the Philippines next week, they will fly back to Los Angeles on Sunday and leave for Manila on the 14th.

Disappointed but not intent on giving up, Apolinario hopes he can fight as soon as possible, against any opponent, anywhere in the world - for the daughter that she loves.

?Hindi naman ito siguro ang katapusan.? (Perhaps, this is not the end of all of this.) Apolinario expressed.
